Capabilities
Project tasks available through the Bauhow MCP server.
The MCP server currently exposes four tools. The AI client selects a tool based on your request.
| Tool | Type | Permission |
|---|---|---|
list_project_modules |
Read | mcp:read |
get_project_module |
Read | mcp:read |
create_heat_planning_project |
Write | mcp:write |
update_project_module |
Write | mcp:write |
In addition to the OAuth permission, your role permissions in the workspace apply. If your role lacks a permission, the tool call fails.
Create a project
create_heat_planning_project creates a contact, building, and heat-planning project. A project title, street, postal code, and city are required. The tool returns the new project ID. Your role needs permission to create contacts and projects.
Common tasks include:
- creating a new project from an address
- adding a contact name when the project is created
- using the returned project ID for later steps
Inspect modules and field schemas
list_project_modules returns the planning-module catalog with descriptions, field names, and dependencies. When you provide a project ID, it also returns that project’s current module status.
Call this tool before making changes. It gives the AI the real field names instead of relying on guesses.
Read and calculate a module
get_project_module reads saved inputs and validation status. For room-by-room heat load, it also returns the rooms. With includeCalculation: true, Bauhow runs the relevant calculation when the required inputs are complete.
This can be used to inspect heat load, seasonal performance, subsidy calculations, and economic results.
Change module values
update_project_module writes one or more fields to a project module. Bauhow merges the values with the existing payload. Locked modules cannot be changed. Editing modules requires permission to edit projects.
A reliable write workflow has three steps:
- Load the field schema with
list_project_modules. - Change only the required fields with
update_project_module. - Verify saved values, validation, and calculations with
get_project_module.
Current limits
The MCP server cannot currently:
- list every project in a workspace or search for projects
- delete, archive, or duplicate projects
- manage contacts, team members, or permissions
- upload files or generate reports
- change billing or workspace settings
- use several workspaces in a single connection
Read and write calls therefore need a project ID. You can copy it from the project URL or receive it when MCP creates a project.
